Vertex Analytics Announces CEP-Based Futures System
Vertex Analytics introduced ECHO, which the company said is the first hosted complex event processing-based market data solution for historical and real-time futures. The high performance system is aimed at the buy side.
The CEP-based market data and analytics solution —which is also available via client-site installation —can be up and running in a few hours and requires little programming experience, no costly consultants for implementation and no expensive new hardware and no dedicated staff, the company contends.
The platform offers an open architecture, rapid deployment, sub-millisecond processing and cost-effective licensing. The company claims it offers more power, flexibility and a lower cost structure than other futures market data and analytics vendors.
According to today’s announcement, Chicago-based Vertex Analytics was co-founded by CEO James Austin and CTO Sorel Aharoni, who were both on the original development team that built Quantitative Analytics, now part of Thomson Reuters.
"Too many futures trading firms are focused on coping with data when they should be taking advantage of data," commented Austin in the company’s release. "The focus on coping has been understandable as the investment in software, hardware and staff is incredibly daunting. Our approach with the ECHO hosted solution is to give trading firms the power and performance they need but with a vastly simpler interface and a much lower cost. With ECHO, trading firms are able to maximize their talent, innovation and capital."
Because CEP is the foundation of ECHO, futures trading firms no longer need to rely on patched together, retrofitted systems of disparate elements, which are often costly, time consuming and ineffective, the company said. According to the company, ECHO makes it fast and simple to build, test and run trading models that utilize both historical and real-time data, and to continually refine those models over time.
