Symantec Releases New Storage Management Solution

The Veritas CommandCentral 5.0 family provides end-to-end visibility in both virtualized server and storage environments.

Symantec unveiled the latest version of its storage resource management solution, Veritas CommandCentral 5.0. Addressing the proliferation of virtualization technologies, the Veritas CommandCentral 5.0 family provides end-to-end visibility in both virtualized server and storage environments, analyzing end-to-end storage consumption and identifying storage that can be reclaimed, according to the vendor.

Cupertino, Calif.-based Symantec says its solution gives organizations the flexibility and choice of storage hardware, helping customers reduce their storage spend.

"IT groups don't trust business groups who don't know how to communicate with the IT group," says Kevin Coughlin, director of product management for Symantec's command central storage line. "We want to take IT and allow it to align resources, show them in a business context and say, 'Here's how much you're using, how much you've got left [and] how much it's going to cost you,' and suggest how to better operate your environment."
