Selerity Hires Jeffrey Otten as Head of Global Sales
Selerityhired Jeffrey Otten as the new VP of global sales to meet the demand for low-latency market-moving event data from investment firms.
Otten, who spent the past 14 years at Thomson Financial and Thomson Reuters, has a background in algorithmic news feed sales and working with clients on news-based trading solutions.
In his new role, Otten will be responsible for building out and leading a global sales force starting in North America and scaling Selerity’s sales organization. Otten and his team will also provide a feedback loop from clients, ensuring Selerity continues to meet its customers’ current and future needs, according to the release. Otten will work out of Selerity’s Chicago office and report directly to Ryan Terpstra, founder and CEO of Selerity.

Otten was most recently a VP of sales in the Thomson Reuters Markets division. While holding that position, he led the sales initiative for the Canadian news product re-launch, managed the migration efforts of legacy products and was instrumental in closing Thomson Financial’s first algorithmic news feed sales in late 2007. Over the last several years, Otten has focused am increasing amount of time in the algorithmic and quantitative trading space, working closely with clients to develop news-based trading solutions. Before joining Thomson Reuters, Wooten worked in both buy-side and sell-side research roles at Smith Barney, Citigroup.

Selerity launched launched its ultra-low latency platform for delivering machine-readable U.S. corporate and economic event data in early March. The product is aimed at sophisticated investment firms, including hedge funds, banks and proprietary trading companies.
