RNA Networks Unveils High-Test Boost to Caching

RNA cache intended to help ease the migration to multicore servers by adding a pool of shared memory.

As firms migrate to multicore servers and build multithreaded applications to take advantage of them, they may start to find they need more memory than natively exists on the servers, RNA Networks contends.

The company introduced memory virtualization software called RNAcache this week. This product lets servers share a virtual memory pool. RNA says the product is easy to implement — it recently installed 32 nodes at hedge fund in two hours and the hedge fund saw a 20X improvement, according to company representatives. They say that analytic models that previously took 1.5 hours can now run in a matter of minutes using RNA cache.
