Oracle Capital Chooses Options IT

Hong Kong-based hedge fund selects Options PIPE Core service, which offers full site of office and mobile technology.

Hong-Kong based Oracle Capital, a hedge fund started by two former Lehman Brothers traders, has selected Options IT to provide a complete business technology infrastructure supporting desktop and mobile technology.

Oracle Capital, picked Options PIPE Core service, which provides a full suite of office and mobile technology for financial services firms, including email, secure shared file storage, Backberry, office PC environment, anti-virus, network security, data backup, according to Fredric Teng, COO at Oracle Capital who responded to questions via email.

The firm chose Options Pipe Core service, a Software-as-a-Service offering, which uses cloud computing to deliver everything from file and print services to desktop computing, telephony, Blackberry, and Outlook management to the hedge fund. “All the basic office technologies that manage your day-to- day communications with your clients and that is wrapped into the PIPE environment,” said a spokesman for Options IT. All the services are fully redundant and business continuity and contingency plans. The service is delivered on-demand to the client site as a private solution, said the spokesman.

In selecting Options IT over other solutions, Teng wrote, “The key features that made a difference were: 1) The ability to provide international connectivity to markets and remote offices with 24x7 support; 2) off site equipment allowing for easy mobility on our part as we grow our firm; 3)offsite equipment and data storage that provides a robust business contingency plan in the event of unforeseen natural disasters, in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Founded in 2009, the hedge fund start up focuses on fixed income, products particularly in the areas of credit, fixed income, derivatives and securitization. The initial fund, Oracle Investment Fund SPC, invests in products that reference corporate credit risk, including cash and synthetic CDOs.

“We feel that Option IT’s infrastructure levels the playing field for emerging start ups like us,” wrote Teng in the email. “We travel constantly and do not have a lot of permanent staffs stationed to handle IT related issues,” he explained. “High quality remote access of our technology also allows for key employees to function properly while being on the road,” Teng wrote in the email.
