GATE Technologies Launches Trading Platform for Illiquid Assets
GATE Technologies announced the launch of GATE Pro, a U.S.-based trading platform specializing in illiquid securities.
GATE U.S. LLC, the subsidiary of GATES Technologies bringing out the electronic trading platform, is a FINRA-registered broker-dealer, which it says is the first fully electronic trading platform specializing in illiquid assets. The first securities to be offered for trading on GATE Pro will be private company stock and private investments in public equities. GATE Pro’s launch follows its recent approval of ATS status for Rule 144A securities.
“By bringing liquidity, transparency and price discovery to a traditionally opaque marketplace, the GATE Pro platform will – for the first time – bring buyers and sellers of these securities together electronically,” commented Joseph Latona, Head of Trading for GATE US in the press statement.
GATE Pro is the first of several platforms that GATE Technologies expects to launch and/or license with a goal of developing electronic trading markets for various alternative asset classes, which the company refers to as a GDM, or “GATE Developing Market,” states the release.
Founded in 2009, GATE Technologies creates new market infrastructure for the buying and selling illiquid and alternative assets.
“GATE Technologies empowers market participants to find the best price for their illiquid assets,” commented Vincent Molinari, co-founder and CEO of GATE Technologies. “From information gathering and analytics, to trade execution and settlement, GATE provides an end-to-end transaction process for complicated transactions in addition to an efficient, electronic and open market.”
In addition to his executive role, Molinari is also the founder of Global Access Holdings LLC, a financial media and analytics company, which identified a global trend line of illiquid securities and the potential market need for alternative asset trading platforms. Before Global Access Holdings, Molinari was the chairman & CEO of Burlington Capital Markets LLC, a financial services company specializing in institutional execution services and investment banking activities.
Molinari co-founded GATE Technologies with Lori Livingston, who serves as the firm’s chief technology officer. Ms. Livingston was the founder of Transfer Online, a stock transfer and registrar agency, was one of the first in the industry to bring transfer agent services and full reporting to the Internet.
Also part of the GATE Technologies executive team is Jeanne Murtaugh, Head of StrategyMurtaugh was formerly vice chairman emeritus of BNY ConvergEx Group, LLC, a leading firm in agency brokerage and investment technology solutions. She was one of the early pioneers of electronic trading/connectivity and leading trends in investment life cycle technology solutions.
Additionally, Sameer Ahuja serves as GATE Technologies’ COO. Ahuja’s career highlights include working on strategic projects for the leadership of JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s investment banking division, as well as in the bank’s early-stage venture capital division evaluating investments in e-finance companies.
