ADG Deploys ITRS for Real-Time Monitoring of Trading Systems

Traders can view ITRS Geneo dashboard which monitors critical systems in real-time.

ADG Holdings LLP, a London-based proprietary trading, market making and brokerage house, went live with ITRS Geneos, a real-time operational management system for monitoring the performance of critical systems.

According to the release, the continued expansion of the company, which has an increasing number of client portfolios, was placing additional requirements on operational and technical support staff to manage all the systems and platforms.

“I had trouble finding a management system capable of covering all the bases until I looked at ITRS Geneos,” which put stress on the IT department, stated Greg Smart, head of operations and technology at ADG in the release. Smart had the impossible task of keeping up with the technology requests from his traders while ensuring the smooth operation and availability of all critical applications, according to the release.

ADG uses a mix of systems, including Solaris, Windows, Unix and Linux, among others and needed something that would help manage them, said Smart in the release. “Most monitoring systems are restricted, whereas ITRS’s specialization in financial markets means that they understand our business needs,” stated Smart in the release, adding that the company provides specialist add-in. ADG can now monitor all systems from one place, so it gets a heads up when there’s a problem, so we have more time to fix things before they escalate,” continued Smart. ITRS Geneos has a unified interface, which allows ADG’s staff to monitor all the system and applications in real time. Traders are able to view the ITRS Geneos dashboard, which is displayed on a large screen and is strategically positioned in the trading room. The traders can see a graphical representation of the performance and resilience of their critical real-time systems.

“I am now able to concentrate on longer term projects and the needs of the business rather than spending so much time manually monitoring real-time systems,” added Smart in the release.

The installation took two days and within a week the IT team at ADG went live with Geneos, benefiting from real-time visibility of their trading environment and practiced monitoring and management. Information gathered through ITRS Geneos includes exchange connectivity, network reliability and system performance, and this allows them to drill down to the underlying data, when required for compliance, risk management audit, etc.
