In a high-level shake-up of its executive team, The Nasdaq Stock Market named Glen Wolyner to serve as executive vice president of Nasdaq Transaction Services. Wolyner replaces Dean Furbush who had held that position, and oversaw the launch of SuperMontage in December 2002. Wolyner is a former chief operating officer of FlexTrade Systems Inc., a developer of equity trading and order-management systems, who has more than a decade of experience at Bloomberg Financial Markets. The management change occurred on the first day that Robert Greifeld joined Nasdaq as president and chief executive officer.

The Global Fixed Income Committee of the FIX Protocol Ltd. has begun a new initiative to create a certification program for the FIX 4.4 specification. The first step in the process being taken by the Business Practices Subcommittee will be to create real-life trading scenarios using FIX messages and to depict them in plain English. The Technical Subcommittee will then use these scenarios as the basis for test scripts.
