Wellington Takes On Ops and IT

Advest promoted John Wellington to director of operations and IT, a position that was created as a result of internal restructuring. Wellington will oversee a majority of Advest's non-sales and marketing groups, including operations, retail credit, client services, general services, NYSE and AMEX trading floors, information technology, telecommunications and facilities management. "I see my role as being the strategist and the communicator," he says. "I have to listen to what people need and set the policy and strategy that's going to get us there."

Wellington joined Advest as a complex manager in 1997 and has served in a number of capacities on both the retail and corporate sides.
