David Mortimer, formerly head of Piper Jaffray's algorithmic and portfolio trading group, has joined Vodia Group, a financial services strategic consulting firm.
NYFIX CEO Bob Gasser has stepped down as a result of a $75 million private equity investment in NYFIX by Warburg Pincus. Gasser is being replaced by Howard Edelstein, formerly CEO of BT Radianz.
Lehman Brothers promoted Tomas Bok to SVP and U.S. head of Lehman's algorithmic trading product, LMX. He replaces David Cushing, who joined Boston-based Wellington Management. Prior to joining Lehman, Bok managed the SmartServers line of algorithmic trading systems at ITG and served as head of the Structured Trading Strategies group. Bok has a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard, where he studied game theory.
Instinet hired John Fildes to head its Hong Kong office. Fildes joins Instinet from Morgan Stanley, where he was head of equity marketing for Asia.
