Bridging the Data Gap
MetaMatrix released MetaMatrix Dimension 5, a data service design and execution solution designed to help application teams meet the data requirements of Web services more quickly. Dimension 5 bridges the gap between existing data sources and the XML requirements of service-oriented architecture applications by making relational and file-based data available as XML schema-compliant Web services.
Rather than wrapping a data source with a Web service application, Dimension 5 enables development teams to use model-driven tools to visually design, execute and optimize higher-level data services, which resolve semantic gaps between existing data and new applications, for example. The solution optimizes data access and provides a Web service interface through which applications can exchange data in XML format.
Waltham, Mass.-based MetaMatrix also announced upgrades to its flagship MetaMatrix Enterprise solution. MetaMatrix Enterprise 5 is a data- service managment system for creating, deploying and managing data services. The new version features improvements in performance, usability and data source connectivity, according to the company.
