3DStockCharts.com Re-launches Site with Integrated ECN Data, New Functionality
Building on its mission to provide integrated data from all of the electronic- communications networks popping up on the electronic-trading scene, 3DStockCharts.com is set to go live with a new version of its Web site this week. The site went live two years ago with data from two ECNs and the re-launch of the site will integrate data from all of the major ECNs -- Island, Instinet, Archipelago, RediBook and Brut with Bloomberg Tradebook data to be fully operational within weeks.
"This will constitute 99 percent of the ECN data out there, which now makes up over 50 percent of the Nasdaq volume," says John McNamara, CEO of 3DStockCharts.com. As the site has evolved with more data, 3DStockCharts.com has transitioned to a subscription service model. While there is still a free site with certain information, users are now charged to view the real-time data, analytics and graphing capabilities.
In addition to a streaming real-time Instinet ticker, the new site features a "pressure graph," that measures buying and selling pressure. This "pressure" is displayed in graphical format, "by adding up all of the combined orders on the six ECNs, applying an algorithm and assigning a ratio that allows a viewer to know the total number of bids and asks on the combined ECNs," says McNamara.
The new 3DStockCharts.com site also features a watch list and allows users to set up mini-streaming portfolios where they can enter up to 10 stocks and watch them in real time. "Users can also launch 10 separate charts on those stocks, including 10 different buying and selling pressure charts," he adds. The site also includes real-time proxy charts for the S&P 500, the Dow 30 and the Nasdaq 100 indices.
"It has become sort of a super ECN center, a one stop shop," says McNamara. "Nasdaq has come out with Supermontage, which is a conglomeration of the market makers and represents the first five layers of information on the bid and ask from them and constitutes about 50 percent of the information and volume on Nasdaq. 3DStockCharts.com has the other 50 percent." He adds that the integrated ECN data is also licensed out to other major data sites for display or redistribution.
