Symark Software Releases PowerBroker 5.0
Symark Software released version 5.0 of its PowerBroker solution, which provides Unix and Linux security by enabling users to delegate administrative privileges and grant selective access to corporate resources while protecting the root account from internal exploitation. An access control list feature simplifies the designation of access rights without requiring lengthy policies to be written, and helps organizations comply with Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA and other regulations, Agoura Hills, Calif-based Symark contends.
PowerBroker 5.0 is designed to enhance security and simplify delegation of administrator privileges, according to the vendor. New features include entitlement reporting, which provides a detailed list of the commands that can be run by IT administrators and other users. The new solution also collects and stores PowerBroker logs from multiple servers in a centralized location, allowing for more-rapid discovery of anomalies as well as a decrease in administrative overhead associated with the log-review process, Symark says.
"PowerBroker 5.0 is a nonintrusive, easy-to-use solution that will help enterprises across the globe address insider threat as both a security best-practices measure and a compliance necessity," said Robert H. Farber, COO of Symark, in a release.
