RISK-MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY

* SunGard acquires Monis. * Dr. Anil Vijayan joins Principia Partners. * FCTM implements Summit Systems' front-to-back-office trading software.

SunGard Trading and Risk Systems has acquired Monis Software and will integrate Monis' derivatives pricing and analytics capabilities with its straight-through-trading and risk solutions. The Monis addition will enable users to hedge, price and manage their cross-asset-class portfolios in an integrated environment. Emanuel Mond will lead the Monis group, which will be an operating unit of SunGard Trading and Risk Systems.

Dr. Anil Vijayan, a derivatives, risk and accounting systems specialist, has joined Principia Partners, a provider of front-to-back office systems for the management of financial assets, liabilities and derivatives. Vijayan will help to shape the company's FAS 133/IAS 39 derivatives-accounting-product strategy by developing best practices and product functionality required to comply with the accounting standards. Previously, Vijayan headed up an STP team at Andersen Consulting.

First Chicago Tokio Marine Financial Products (FCTM), a risk-management joint venture between Bank One Corporation and Tokio Marine and Fire Insurance, will implement Summit Systems' front-to-back-office trading software. The trading capabilities will include support for listed futures, OTC options and derivatives and credit instruments, as well as parametric Delta/Gamma/Vega VaR and optimized Monte Carlo VaR risk-management functionality.
