Risk Management Minute

--ARCA Asset Management has chosen SunGard's Panorama and Decalog integrated solution for trade support, order management and risk analysis. The firm will integrate Panorama for real-time cross-asset risk management with Decalog for front- and middle-office straight-through processing. With over $35 billion in assets, ARCA will utilize the single solution to manage daily trade flow and activity and measure market risk throughout its entire operation.

--Additionally, Mizuho Corporate Bank, the banking arm of Mizuho Financial Group, has selected SunGard's Infinity solution for trading and risk management with integrated credit derivatives. Mizuho will use the Infinity product to maintain its cross-asset market risk management in its major overseas branches.

--West Broadway Partners, Inc. has appointed Exeter Group, Inc. to revamp and expand its position and risk management systems. The Exeter Group is an IT consulting firm and its new system will allow West Broadway to trace investment positions across worldwide markets and intricate financial instruments.

--Quaestor Investment Man-agement is implementing the latest version of BITA Plus' BITA Risk Modeller. The addition of the BITA Risk Modeller will enable Quaestor to refine and develop its risk models by incorporating new factors considered influential in running their funds. Quaestor, a joint venture between Yasuda Life and PaineWebber, manages over $320 million in pure equity market-neutral funds. The firm has been using the BITA Plus solution for portfolio construction and analysis since 1996.

--Halifax, a U.K. financial services group, has selected SunGard Trading and Risk Systems' BancWare asset and liability management system for interest rate risk management. Halifax will utilize BancWare at a group level across multiple business units, incorporating measurements for optionality, income simulation and market valuation.

--Dr. David Shimko has been elected to the Board of Directors of the new Delaware holding company. Shimko is currently President of Risk Capital Management Partners and teaches finance part-time at Harvard Business School. Previously, Shimko was head of risk management research at J.P. Morgan Securities, where he handled commodity derivatives research on the trading desk.

--FinPortfolio, Inc. has released enhanced functionality that allows investors to analyze multiple holdings across portfolios. The new functionality is made available to users of FinPortfolio's Portfolio Optimization, Risk Analysis and Style Analysis modules. Users will be able to run holistic analysis of all holdings or "what if" scenarios on various combinations of individual assets.
