JPMorgan Losing Data and Making Headlines
Two disturbing reports of carelessness with customer data have surface out of JPMorgan Chase this week. The first is a video posted yesterday on YouTube which allegedly shows customers' in-tact personal financial information being fished out of garbage bags left outside of Manhattan bank branches.
The video is posted by the Service Employees International Union, which is currently at odds with the bank in a labor dispute. While it could well be just a bit of mud-slinging, if the video turns out to be authentic, it is wholly alarming.
According to reports, JPMC has also begun notifying millionaire clients in the Chicago area that their personal and account information may have been exposed in the ages-old tale of the missing backup tape. Approximately 47,000 individuals have been notified.
