Deutsche Bank's Ira Lehrman Moves to Merrill

Ira Lehrman joined Merrill Lynch as chief technology officer (CTO), global investment banking and client technology.

Ira Lehrman joined Merrill Lynch as first vice president and chief technology officer (CTO), global investment banking and client technology. In this role, he will oversee technology for global investment banking and global institutional sales across all the debt and equity product lines. His responsibilities also include origination and syndication within the firm's capital markets business, as well as integration with the infrastructure data delivery services group (IDS) on all business initiatives such as new applications, network problems or the opening of a new office. "At the end of the day it's all my headache, and I accept it graciously with open arms," Lehrman says.

Prior to taking on his new role at Merrill Lynch, Lehrman worked as the global business CTO of the debt capital markets group at Deutsche Bank Securities. There, he was responsible for technology, strategy, architecture, planning, sponsorship, prioritization, delivery and budget. He's an active member of the Bond Market Association (BMA) Technology committee, and currently chairs the FIX Protocol Global Fixed Income Committee's eSyndicate Working Group, defining how the FIX Protocol can be implemented and expanded to support the new issues business within Debt Capital Markets. Lehrman replaces Ian Lewis, who left the firm in 2004.
