Barra Aides Attrribution

Risk-management vendor Barra says it has released a product that will allow investment companies of all sizes to analyze investment performance using daily data.

Risk-management vendor Barra says it has released a product that will allow investment companies of all sizes to analyze investment performance using daily data. The product, Barra Enterprise Performance, can be used by asset and investment managers to examine attribution on a daily basis in order to promote timely data processing and reporting, according to the vendor.

Barra Enterprise Performance aims to help managers understand the results of their investment decisions, such as quantifying the return of decisions to allocate values between user-defined sectors or individual stock levels.

Barra says that the product is highly accurate when performing analysis, drilling down to a granular level that includes daily cash flows, as well as weights and returns. It also uses multi-currency attribution and examines investments at a single-security level.

In addition, the vendor says that the solution is able to quickly process heavy volume data, including data-loading and data-cleansing processes. The product can analyze multi-asset-class portfolios according to user-defined rules and schemes, Barra says. The vendor adds that the solution compliments its other performance-analysis product, which uses the vendor's risk factors to determine equity performance.

Finally, Barra says that the solution produces reports in compliance with industry standards, including Global Investment Performance Standards.

Barra Enterprise Performance can be directly integrated with a firm's data sources using the product's customizable COM-object model, or updated through flat or XML files. The solution runs on a Windows platform as a client-server application.

The product is priced as an annual subscription.
