Oracle unveiled its in-memory data grid, Oracle Coherence 3.3, a hot-pluggable component of Oracle Fusion Middleware. The solution enables firms to push data closer to applications for faster access and greater resource utilization, Oracle claims.

By automatically and dynamically partitioning data in memory across multiple servers, Oracle Coherence enables continual data availability, even in the event of a server failure, according to the vendor. As a shared infrastructure, the offering combines data locality with local processing power to perform real-time data analysis, in-memory grid computations, and parallel transaction and event processing.

Rick Schultz, VP of Oracle Fusion Middleware, tells Wall Street & Techology that the product addresses growing demand for extreme transaction processing (XTP) capabilities and high-performance applications. It also features enhanced clustering capabilities.

"Combining the in-memory data grid infrastructure of Oracle Coherence with Oracle Fusion Middleware, we now offer customers a comprehensive solution to address their evolving XTP requirements," added Cameron Purdy, Oracle's VP of development, in a release.
