NYSE Euronext Appoints IBM Veteran Dominic Cerutti as Deputy CEO
Signaling the vital importance of technology to the future of the exchange business, NYSE Euronext appointed IBM executive, Dominique Cerutti to be deputy CEO and global head of technology, replacing Jean-Francois Theodore who is retiring at year-end.
Cerutti, who is a 23-year veteran at IBM, currently serves as general manager of IBM Southwest Europe, where he oversaw the activities of 33,000 IBM employees with expertise in 17 business sectors, of which financial services is the largest one. He also headed IBM’s financing arm, (IBM Global Financing). In his new role, Cerutti will report to Duncan Niederauer, NYSE Euronext’s CEO. Stanley Young, the current head of NYSE Technologies, will report to Cerutti.
“An innovator and visionary, Dominique will be an outstanding addition to our leadership team as we address the rapidly changing and increasingly competitive global landscape,” stated Niederauer in the release. “His extensive experience in technology and management of a finance unit will prove especially beneficial for our customers, our market infrastructure initiatives, and our evolution as a technology enterprise in financial services,” stated Niederauer in the company’s release.
A French national, Cerutti will be based in Paris where he will oversee global technology/IT and will assume responsibility for business operations, customer relations and competitive position in Europe. Cerutti will also join NYSE Euronext’s management committee, subject to regulatory approval.
Theodore announced his intention to retire at year-end and will remain a director of the company, pending regulatory approval.
