Northern Names Geographic-Specific Transition Management Leadership
Aiming to more effectively serve client's geographic-specific needs, Northern Trust Global Investments (NTGI), the asset management arm of Chicago-based Northern Trust Corp., appointed Grant Johnsey head of transition management, North America, and Simon Hutchinson head of transition management, international. They step into the role formerly held by Kevin Hardy, who was named managing director of international sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the Asia Pacific region.
Together, Johnsey and Hutchinson will be responsible for the direction of the transition management group. Johnsey points out that the needs of clients are very different in North America, Asia and Europe. "In Europe and Asia, transition management for particular clients tends to be larger and less frequent," he says. "In North America, transitions tend to be more frequent and to impact just one part of a portfolio."
Johnsey and Hutchinson both joined NTGI in 2004 and were previously senior transition management strategists. Hardy joined NTGI in 2003 as head of transition management, Europe, and became global head of transition management in 2004.
