New Phishing Twists

Online financial criminals have advanced their phishing techniques, according to RSA Security, which uncovered a new type of attack that it has dubbed a Smart Redirection Attack.

The new attack is designed to keep phishing campaigns operating in the face of heightened reporting and countermeasures. Using the Smart Redirection Attack, financial criminals evade authorities by creating multiple data-gathering Web sites and ensuring that even if one phishing site is reported and shut down, victims are redirected to another live phishing site where their personal financial information is farmed and used to steal funds. <<<
