EquityFeed Corp., an Internet provider of market data and analysis for traders and investors in the U.S. microcap equity markets, has launched EquityFeed Pro, a real-time market data and analytics platform covering the Over-The-Counter Bulletin Board (OTCBB) and Pink Sheet marketplace — and now the Nasdaq stock market, as well.
The biggest difference between a microcap stock — low-priced stocks issued by the smallest companies — and other stocks is usually the amount of reliable, publicly available information about the company, since many microcap companies do not file financial reports with the SEC. Microcap stocks often trade in the OTCBB, an electronic quotation system that displays real-time quotes, last-sale prices and volume information for many OTC securities not listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market or a national securities exchange.
EquityFeed's previous platform, the MicrocapFeed Professional, only covered the OTCBB and Pink Sheets — listings of price quotes for companies that trade in the over-the-counter market named for the color of paper on which they've historically been printed.
The new EquityFeed Pro is a real-time streaming platform that offers market makers' quotes, Level Two data feeds, information about top movers, SEC filings, filtering and technical trading tools, according to EquityFeed. New features include an earnings calendar, which provides earnings reporting dates for all major Nasdaq-listed stocks along with analysts' estimates, and real-time market data updates.
The platform also has customized ticker tapes enabling traders to use data filters, such as trade price, trade size, net change and percent change from the previous day's closing price, the vendor says. The trade-size filter allows traders to display only trades for a certain share amount and higher, blocking out the clutter of small trades.
The solution also includes industry sector categories, which allow traders to quickly research companies based on their Standard Industrial Classifications (SIC) codes, according to EquityFeed. Further, the new platform adds wire services such as the Dow Jones News Service, Briefings.com and Theflyonthewall.com to MicrocapFeed's existing list of news providers, which include PR Newswire, BusinessWire and InternetWire.
EquityFeed, which was founded in 2001 with the aim of providing greater market transparency for the microcap and nanocap equity segments of the U.S. stock market, has just changed its name from Microcap Trade. "Before we launched our MicrocapFeed platform, there was no place for anyone to get information on the Bulletin Board and Pink Sheet trading market. And there was no transparency," says Spencer Olsen, president of EquityFeed Corp. He adds that the company plans to add the New York Stock Exchange to its platform in about a year.
