LightPort Streamlines Reporting

LightPort is speeding up the reporting process with the release of Portfolio Express, which automatically collates individual pages of reports and statements into a single PDF file for each client. Advisers then can print the PDF files, archive them for regulatory reasons or upload them to a client Web site.

Investment advisers "cover every flat surface of their building - every desk, every conference table - with all of these reports, trying to collate them and package them up for clients," says Kevin Boyette, director of product development at Palm Harbor, Fla.-based LightPort. "The Portfolio Express tool can process 5,000 different accounts with eight to 10 pages each in five minutes."

The software resides on the adviser's desktop and includes a secure Web connection for uploading of documents to the Web. "Investor demand for more-timely and reliable information is forcing technology like this out in the market so that advisers can be more efficient with the delivery of information," Boyette says. Portfolio Express light starts at $5,000; the standard version with workflow automation starts at $25,000.
