The move could enable firms to tweak their automated trading strategies and tune their risk management systems for specific economic events.
“By alerting clients as early as 24 hours in advance, AlphaFlash Risk Signal gives customers the opportunity to adjust their trading strategies prior to the release of an individual or macroeconomic event. In doing so, the new data feed enables stronger risk management for automated traders and other market participants,” commented George Gross, head of content, market data +services, Deutsche Borse, in a statement.
AlphaFlash Risk Signal sends alert messages that are unique to each economic indicator at different time intervals, beginning at 24 hours, one hour, one minute, 30 seconds and 10 seconds before the release. A final message is sent to confirm that the data has been released within milliseconds. The feed also sends out the actual reported data immediately upon release.
Currently more than 150 economic indicators globally are covered including central bank interest rate decisions, employment numbers, housing statistics, gross domestic product figures, CPI, industrial output and USDA releases. Official sources of this data include U.S. Departments of Labor, Treasury and Commerce, The Conference Board, National Association of Realtors, Bank of Canada, European Central Bank, Bank of England, Z.E. W. and German Ministry of Economics.
The alert messages are sent in a binary format via IP multicast or TCP so that users can easily integrated into their trading and risk infrastructure, according to Deutsche Borse. A free 30-day trial is available by visiting the AlphaFlash web site.
