UBS Named A 2008 Working Mother 100 Best Company By Working Mother Magazine

UBS has been named to Working Mother magazine's "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers." This is the sixth year in a row UBS has made the top 100 list. "Being named to the Working Mother list of the 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers in the US for the sixth consecutive year in a row is a great achievement," said Mona Lau, group head of diversity and campus recruiting, in a press release. "It is easy for companies to do the right thing in good times. The test comes during challenging times. UBS's commitment to diversity and to our working mothers is standing firm," she said. UBS was recognized for policies and programs that meet the needs of working mothers and their families, including competitive parental leave, assistance with childcare and providing employees with flexibility. In addition, UBS provides managers with tools and information to help them manage employees on flex. Many new UBS moms in the last couple of years have pointed to several benefits or programs that have helped them care for themselves, their families and their careers including two paid family care days, introduced this year, which can be taken in addition to regular vacation, personal and sick days if, for example, your child is unwell or your spouse or elderly parent needs a medical procedure, she said.

Also the availability of flexible work arrangements and UBS's efforts to raise awareness about flexible work through the launch in September 2007 of the Diversity Minute on Flexibility, a flash-based, multimedia communication that profiles two employees who work flexibly. There is also a growing focus on helping employees manage stress, including the offering of several programs such as "Dealing with Pressure at Work," "Healthy Eating, Healthy Minds," and "Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle," which have been implemented.
