Lime Brokerage Rolls Out Low-Latency Options Data From CBOE

Joint offering will give non-members a real-time, low latency alternative to OPRA consolidated feed.

Lime Brokerage said it completed the first customer rollout of a high-speed options data feed from the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) in a joint offering with the exchange. Lime says it’s the first to provide non-CBOE members and sponsored members with a real-time, low latency alternative to the consolidated feed available from OPRA (Options Price Reporting Authority).

The new feed, known as Real Time Data, is built upon the patent pending technology that Lime has developed for the U.S. equities markets and its ultra-low latency Citrius options data platform released in 2009. Options traders that utilize Lime’s high volume agency broker and its high throughput, low latency technologies are now able to access real-time BBO (Best Bid/Best Offer) options data directly from the CBOE. Customers can access data via Lime’s proprietary portal or can co-locate servers at Lime’s data centers for the lowest latency available.

Lime already has several clients accessing the CBOE feed and is in the process of rolling out additional options data and trading offerings over the next several weeks. Currently, Lime provides data from all eight U.S. equity options exchanges, as well as from OPRA’s consolidated feed.

“As the marketplace continues to evolve, there will be increasing demand within the industry for options exchanges to deliver faster data to all market participants, helping to level the playing field,” stated Jeff Wecker, president and CEO of Lime Brokerage, in the release. “We’re happy to be working with the CBOE, the cornerstone of the U.S. options markets, to broaden its customer base for high speed data beyond its membership, “ Wecker adds.

According to CBOE VP Trading Operations Tom Knorring, who is quoted in the release, Lime Brokerage is helping CBOE to begin reaching out to a new group of customers with its Real Time Data product.
