Savvis Exchange Express Adds BATS Access

Savvis announced that the BATS trading platform is now available on its Savvis Exchange Express network.

Savvis Exchange Express provides low-latency Ethernet access directly to exchanges and trading platforms.

"This connects directly from the client location into the BATS environment without having to go through network switches," says Varghese Thomas, vice president and general manager of financial services at Savvis.

"Typically a client would order the connection to a POP (point of presence), go through several Telco POPs proprietary to the network provider and then to the exchange environment. This is a direct connection," he adds.

Savvis also offers direct Ethernet feeds from the American Stock Exchange and SFTI (Secure Financial Transaction Infrastructure) via Savvis Exchange Express.

"In the trade cycle there are many different components to reducing latency," says Thomas. "Sometimes its the server, or the network or the exchange. This helps reduce the components along the way and increase trading speed."

Thomas says that Savvis will continue to add exchanges and other trading venues to the Exchange Express offering, domestically as well as internationally.
