NYSE Liffe Announces Top Management Changes
NYSE Euronext announced that Hugh Freedberg will become Chairman of NYSE Liffe, the company’s global derivatives business, and Garry Jones will take over for Freedberg as Group Executive Vice President & Head of Global Derivatives beginning May 1, 2009.
Freedberg replaces Andre Villenueve, who is retiring after six years as Chairman of the derivatives business.
In a statement, Duncan Niederauer, NYSE Euronext Chief Executive Officer, said, “Our derivatives business experienced unprecedented growth and transformation under Hugh’s guidance. With Garry and his team, I am confident that we have the right organization and strategy in place to capitalize on the unique opportunities and challenges ahead.”
Freedberg will work to make sure the NYSE Liffe Board meetings regulatory, legal and strategic obligations and will work closely with the management team, regulators and legislators. He will remain on the board of the NYSE Liffe U.S.
As part of his new position, Jones will become a member of the NYSE Euronext Management Committee, subject to regulatory approval, and will lead the NYSE Liffe Executive Committee. Jones is currently Executive Director of Business Development and Strategy at NYSE Liffe.
