Nasdaq OMX Names New CFO
Nasdaq OMX Group, which is embroiled in a bid to buy NYSE Euronext, announced the hiring of Lee Shavel as its chief financial officer and executive vice president of corporate strategy.
The exchange operator said Shavel had advised the company for the last seven years on mergers and acquisitions, and funding and capital transactions.
"He brings both broad financial expertise and strategic perspective across key asset classes such as cash equities, commodities, derivatives and fixed income. We're pleased to have Lee join Nasdaq OMX in this critical time," Nasdaq Chief Executive Bob Greifeld said in a statement.
Shavel previously ran the Americas segment of Bank of America Merrill Lynch's investment banking group. He'll take over his new post in May, Nasdaq added.
