Everall Jumps to HSBC Securities
Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein's (London) Mike Everall, chief information security officer for North America, is leaving the firm to take on a similar position as CISO in New York for HSBC Securities USA. In his new role, he will report to Scott Kania, SVP of management services.
According to Everall, information security is as much about people as it is technology. "A lot of it is about personal relationships," he says. "You have to know the needs and requirements of your clients and customers," Everall adds, noting that he is "there to protect not just the firm, not just the team, but the individual as well." With this management style, Everall continues, he hopes to provide a link between technology and the business for HSBC's compliance, legal, human resources and data privacy departments.
Prior to serving at DrKW, Everall held technology management positions at IBM and ACT financial services. He also is a veteran of the British army. --Cory Levine
