Enhanced Password Security

Information security software provider Cyber-Ark Software (Dedham, Mass.) launched version 4.0 of its flagship Enterprise Password Vault (EPV), which offers capabilities for securing, managing, updating and logging all privileged passwords throughout an enterprise. According to Cyber-Ark, the newest release of EPV adds functionality to the management of shared, administrative or super-user passwords that exist in routers, servers, databases, workstations and applications.

"Mismanagement of privileged passwords is a critical security risk that must be addressed," said Udi Mokady, president of Cyber-Ark Software, in a release. "Privileged password management is now a basic tenet of IT security best practices, regardless of where an organization is or what products and services it offers."

Additional features in EPV 4.0 include what Cyber-Ark calls the first password dashboard to use graphs, charts and alerts to provide IT users and administrators an enterprisewide view of privileged password usage activity.
