Fisher Investments Opens Sydney Office

With a new Australian subsidiary, the money manager is looking eastward.

Fisher Investments announced plans to launch a new, wholly-owned subsidiary -- Fisher Investments Australia (FIA).

"Creating our new subsidiary follows considerable time spent in Australia establishing key relationships with major Australian investors. We plan on dedicating significant resources and capital to the endeavor underscoring our commitment to the region," says Institutional Group Vice President Justin Arbuckle.

He continues, "We feel our top-down, macro-driven equity strategies offer unique investment solutions to the Australian marketplace. Interest has been strong."

Based in Sydney, FIA will serve all of Australia.

"The market represents about a $1.2 trillion opportunity and continues to grow rapidly," says Arbuckle. Fisher Investments secured its first Australian institutional client late last year and several other key prospective clients are in advanced stages of due diligence.

Separately, the firm also announced it would be adding new resources to its existing wholly-owned subsidiary in London -- Fisher Investments UK. Although there has been a presence in the United Kingdom since 2000, additional staff will be dedicated to serving institutional investors across the European continent.

Founded in 1979, Fisher Investments is an independent, privately-owned money management firm with tens of billions under management.
