STA Announces New Officers and Board

The Security Traders Association (STA) announced its new Board of Governors and Officers for the 2009 term at its 75th Annual Conference and Business Meeting in Florida last week.

The new Officers will serve a one-year term and make up the Organization’s Executive Committee, setting the direction and overseeing operations for the STA.

Peter Driscoll, Vice President and Senior Equity Trader at The Northern Trust Company in Chicago, will serve as the STA Chairman.

Brett Mock, Managing Director and Senior Sales Trader at BTIG in San Francisco, will take over as Vice Chairman. Joseph Cangemi, Managing Director at BNY ConvergEx in New York, will serve as Treasurer and Lou Matrone, Director of Trading Operations at Rushmore Investments Advisors in Dallas, will serve as Secretary.

The newly elected STA governors are: John Daley, Managing Director, Institutional Equity Trading at Stifel Nicolaus in Dallas; Rory O’Kane, TD Securities in Chicago; Joe Roman, Vice President at Atlanta Capital Management in Atlanta; Jon Schneider, sales manager at BATS Trading in Kansas City; and Jennifer Setzenfand, Vice President and Senior Trader at Federated Investors in Pittsburgh.

In a press release, in-coming Chairman Peter Driscoll said, “For 75 years the Security Traders Association has represented both broker-dealer and institutional traders, and, because of this broad representation, has provided the industry, legislators, and regulators with a consensus voice on critical issues in the U.S. and global markets. We believe that on any market issue, the outcomes that serve the best interests of the overall market also serve our members, our industry, issuers, and investors, well. We now face critical issues in the global markets – both in stability and in structure. We will continue to represent our members and provide a single voice on issues of concern.”
