Obama Taps Schapiro To Head SEC
President-elect Barack Obama officially named Mary Schapiro as head of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) today.
Schapiro is a former SEC commissioner and is currently CEO of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). She will be the first woman to head the SEC.
Obama also named Daniel Tarullo to the Federal Reserve Board, filling one of two vacant seats. Tarullo is currently a Georgetown law professor.
In addition, former Treasury official Gary Gensler has been tapped to head the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
