Madoff Sentenced to 150 Years in Prison

Bernard Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison today by U.S. District Judge Denny Chin for his massive financial fraud.

According to reports from inside the courtroom in lower Manhattan, Madoff spoke during the sentencing and apologized for his actions.

He said that he dug himself deeper and deeper into a hole as his scheme progressed and also that he will live with the pain and torment of his actions for the rest of his life.

Applause reportedly broke out as the judge sentenced Madoff to the top sentence for each of his convictions to be served consecutively.

Nine Madoff victims spoke during the sentencing and each asked that the judge impost the maximum sentence.
