Chauvin Promoted to CRO at TD

Mark Chauvin, a veteran of TD Bank Financial Group, has been appointed as EVP of risk management and chief risk officer for the firm. Chauvin will be based in the firm's Toronto headquarters and report to CEO Ed Clark.

The former head of credit risk at TD Bank Financial Group, Chauvin now will lead all of the company's risk management functions, including management of market and operational risk. He also will serve as TD Bank Financial Group's representative to regulators, including Canada's OSFI, the U.K.'s FSA and the various U.S. regulatory bodies.

Regarding the effective management of risk within his organization, Chauvin stresses the importance of the data analysis technology on which he relies. "It is critical in terms of the ability to manage, capture and assess the data in terms of what it's telling us," he says. "We're very dependent upon getting correct information and using it in our decision making."
