Reuters appoints Devin Wenig as executive director; HSBC Asset Management deploys Thomson Financial's First Call Analyst in seven locations worldwide; weComm's streaming market data wireless application, MarketWave 2.0 is now available on the Microsoft windows-based Smartphone.

Reuters has appointed Devin Wenig to its board as an executive director. Wenig will also take on a new role responsible for leading the company's four customer segments. Wenig has been president of the Reuters Investment Banking and Brokerage segment since September 2001. In addition, Reuters has appointed Jon Robson as global head of fixed income. Robson was previously founder and CEO of Moneyline Telerate. Robson will take over next month and lead the global team responsible for fixed-income product development and sales initiatives.

HSBC Asset Management has deployed Thomson Financial's First Call Analyst on 100 desktops in seven locations worldwide. HSBC was looking to bring aggregated internal and external research together on a single platform. The First Call Analyst research and analytical application provides fund managers and analysts with access to Thomson Financial's real-time First Call research notes and reports, I/B/E/S analyst forecasts, Datastream economic charts, Worldscope company fundamentals and analyst and broker profile information.

weComm's streaming market data wireless application, MarketWave 2.0 is now available on the Microsoft windows-based Smartphone. MarketWave 2.0 provides users with real-time access to financial data, including news, prices and trades over the Smartphone. The service can also be accessed in variable bandwidth conditions as the application streams data under harsh network environments, down to as low as 2 Kbps. weComm says a number of European financial institutions have begun trials of the technology for possible deployment in-house for trading and sales staff as well as customers.
