Knight Names Sohos to Head Electronic Trading Group

Knight Capital Group said it appointed George Sohos as head of the firm’s Electronic Trading Group.

Sohos, 44, joined Knight in 2000 and has been a member of the firm’s senior ETG management team since 2004. Most recently, he led the quantitative teams responsible for executing all U.S. and European client order flow. Sohos will report to Tom Joyce, chairman and CEO at Knight Capital Group.

His responsibilities cover all global electronic market making and principal trading across asset classes. Prior to joining Knight, he worked as a software engineer at IBM and as a senior scientist at Enviro Engineering.

Sohos has a PhD in applied mathematics from the University of Arizona and a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Panepistimion Patron in Greece.

“George has been an instrumental part of the growth and development of Knight’s Electronic Trading Group from the start,” commented Joyce, in the release.

As one of the world's leading market makers, Knight provides liquidity both on-and off-exchange in a broad range of securities.

Under Sohos' direction, Knight plans to further expand client market making and principal trading activities across geographies and asset classes, further stated Joyce.
