Banhidi Switches Gears
Equities veteran Andrew Banhidi will apply his trading experience to a new asset class since joining online foreign exchange trading platform FXall as CTO. Based in New York and reporting to CEO Phil Weisberg, Banhidi's responsibilities will include overall technology strategy, system architecture and development, engineering, production services and quality assurance.
Banhidi most recently served as CTO of equities execution venue Instinet, where he led the development and deployment of the firm's trading and trade processing systems. He previously held roles at Merrill Lynch -- as CTO of Merrill Lynch Japan and, later, as global director of Trading Service -- as well as senior technology roles at Goldman Sachs.
Banhidi says he is looking forward to his first foray into the FX market. "FX -- especially the whole electronic FX space -- has been growing and bursting out, and it reminds me of when equities was at the point where electronic trading really took off," he says. "I thought it would be really interesting to see another business and another asset class going that way."
