Donal Byrne is the CEO of Corvil, the leading real-time analytics company for monitoring and safeguarding the performance of the world's electronic trading networks. As CEO of Corvil, Donal has been at the forefront of technology innovation and its application to financial markets. He has over 20 years' experience working in the fields of computer systems, high-speed networking, and web and data science. His most recent interests are in frictionless product development, economics of web-scale IT infrastructure, big-data analytics, and the psychology of technology innovation. He joined Corvil in 2000 as the non-executive Chairman, and in 2002 he took on the role of CEO. In 2004 he was selected by the World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer, and in 2005 he was a named in the Top 10 Emerging Technology Companies in the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur Of The Year. Prior to Corvil, he held the role of Chief Marketing Officer of Firstmark Communications, an alternative Internet service provider. From 1993 to 1999 Donal worked in Silicon Valley. In 1996, he co-founded Berkeley Networks, which was acquired by Fore Systems in September 1998. He holds a BE and M.Eng.Sc degrees from University College Dublin. He has been an invited speaker at many industry conferences and events and has numerous publications and patents in the field of network communications and computer systems.
