Free iPhone/iPad application provides analysis of news and social media to predict the stock market.

Israeli-based Sentigo has launched Wall St. Scanner, an iPhone/iPad application for more efficiently monitoring and tracking publically traded companies in the U.S. marketplace.

Wall St. Scanner scans over seven million web pages daily from over 15,000 different sources, (including news outlets, financial analysts, corporate web sites and opinions expressed on social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook) to provide up to the minute analysis of media and marketplace sentiment on the top 2,000 U.S.-listed stocks (determined by marketcap. It then uses sophisticated text analysis and proprietary algorithms to analyze and encapsulate online sentiment or mood of publicly traded companies and market data to predict the potential direction of a stock, according to the release.

“Our mission is to revolutionize the way the public consumers financial information, making it easily accessible and actionable,” comments Gadi Svadron, founder and CEO of Sentigo, developer of an intelligent financial analysis engine. “Our learning machine algorithm integrates structured market data with unstructured crowd-sourced opinions to identify the bottom-line intelligence regarding stocks. Wall St. Scanner is a secret tool every investor must have.” The app is currently available for free from the iTunes app store and can be downloaded to an iPhone, iPod Touch and Pad. A version for both the Android and the Blackberry is in the final stages of development and will be available soon, as well as an online version.
