CSFB Appoints Global Security Head
John Varrone has been named head of Global Security at Credit Suisse First Boston. Varrone comes to CSFB from the U.S. Customs Service, Office of Investigations, where he has worked for 25 years. There, he was assistant commissioner of investigations and was responsible for all investigative, intelligence and administrative matters for 5,000 employees in 200 offices.
At CSFB, Varrone says his primary initiative will be to "ensure the physical security and safety of all employees." Also high on his list is to "take a strategic look at the firm's current inventory" and see where he can add value. He offered the example of using his experience in investigative work to assist with CSFB's anti-money-laundering initiative. In addition, Varrone will focus on contingency planning.
At CSFB, Varrone will report to Luther Terry, managing director and global head of CSFB's Corporate Services Department.
