RISK MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY

* Prediction Dynamics launches its Crucible 1.0 financial time-series modeling platform. * Egar Technology releases a real-time equity options trading and risk management product for market makers. * The Northern Trust Company responds to the need for monitoring and measuring risk exposure on mutual funds with Fund Peek Through.

Prediction Dynamics has launched its Crucible 1.0 financial time-series modeling platform to enable quantitative researchers to build, analyze and maintain a large number of predictive financial models across financial markets and asset classes. The Crucible product is aimed at hedge funds and proprietary trading desks at investment banks. The prediction infrastructure behind Crucible includes performance-enhancing tools such as the Data Transform Builder, Back Testing, Scenario Testing and Factor Weighing Utilities.

Egar Technology has released a real-time equity options trading and risk management product for market makers. The solution aims to address the changing needs of market makers moving towards an electronic trading environment, such as a more sophisticated risk and reporting system. Based on Egar's Equity Trading System platform, this newly released version for market makers also includes a full theoretical value engine, a volatility manager and a correlation-based analyzer for delta and Vega hedging. The ETS platform is offered on either a licensing basis for the system to be implemented in-house or on a subscription basis, which enables users to reduce the costs associated with purchasing, owning and operating such a system.

The Northern Trust Company has responded to the need for monitoring and measuring risk exposure on mutual funds with the launch of Fund Peek Through. This enhancement to the Northern Trust Passport reporting package allows plan sponsors and other institutional investors to "drill down" into mutual funds and view detailed asset information on all the holdings of the fund. The expanded security data can be integrated with individually managed plan assets, providing institutional investors with an unprecedented level of detail on total plan risk exposure.
