Witney to Head IT at Barclays Capital
Andrew Witney has been appointed director and head of information technology for commodities, foreign exchange, emerging markets and money markets at Barclays Capital. In this newly created London-based position, Witney will be responsible for the ongoing development of the electronic trading platforms and IT applications for those businesses. He will report to Kevin O'Reilly, managing director and head of IT and strategic planning.
Witney joins Barclays from London-based UBS, where he was a managing director responsible for development of the firm's pan-European banking platform. At UBS, he led the development team that built the trading system, market feed and market supervision systems for the Swiss Stock Exchange and developed an Internet bank for high-net-worth customers. "Andrew has quite an outstanding past," says O'Reilly. "He has to be one of the highest regarded individuals in the UBS technology organization - and we wanted somebody of that caliber here."
