Janney Montgomery Scott Announces New CIO

Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, a Philadelphia-based full-service wealth management, financial services and investment banking firm, announced today the appointment of Robert J. Thielmann to the role of chief information officer, vice president, and member of the firm's management committee.

In his new position, Thielmann will lead Janney's information technology organization that supports the company's private client and capital markets groups, investment banking, compliance and operations efforts, and enterprise systems and applications for all corporate processes.

Thielmann has been in the industry for more than 20 years and has experience in running global IT operations for financial organizations. In his most recent stint, he served as senior vice president and divisional chief information officer at AIG, where he led the company through multiple strategic initiatives addressing compliance deficiencies, creating new advisor products and managed account offerings, and bolstering infrastructure, controls and resourcing in conjunction with growth in the business.

Before joining AIG, Thielmann served as a director of ecommerce development at Pershing, a division of Bank of New York Mellon.
