Hedge Fund Veteran Named Options IT Head of Technology
In his new role Bowell will be responsible for leading Options IT's North American technology engineering, networking and support teams, as well as overseeing the growth of the Options PIPE Private Financial Cloud services in the North American region.
Prior to joining Options IT, Bowell was the chief technology officer at Fauchier Partners, a BNP Paribas investment partner and leading global funds of hedge funds based in London. During his tenure there, he managed a full strategic review of the fund's technology platform, including outsourced software development and an upgrade of the infrastructure for the fund, which has more than $7 billion in assets under management.
Before joining Fauchier Partners, Bowell was partner and co-CTO at London Diversified Fund Management (LDFM) where he spent eight years helping to grow the firm into one of Europe's largest hedge fund managers with more than $8 billion AUM at its peak.
A press statement reports that "He was instrumental in ensuring the original spinoff of the trading team's technology from JP Morgan, including a number of technology and premises relocations. Bowell also led the infrastructure integration of LDFM's systematic fund with Brevan Howard."
Prior to LDFM, Bowell held a variety of technology roles at global firms including, Credit Suisse, ING Baring US, and McKinsey & Co. He has held senior technology roles in the North American, Asia-Pacific and European regions.
