Money.Net And Nasdaq.Com Offer Trading Tool ; S&P Offers Indices Module; Citrix Secures Enterprise A

Citrix launches an enterprise-access solution, S&P releases a new indices module, and Money.net and Nasdaq team up to offer a trading tool.

Money.Net And Nasdaq.Com Offer Trading Tool
Nasdaq PowerView has recently been released to assist short-term traders in finding the best prices for their actively traded Nasdaq stocks.

The Web-based service presents the top bid and ask price for each stock listed on the exchange, as well as the aggregate size of all quotes and orders at the top five price levels.

Money.net's exclusivity as a fee-based subscription provider for nasdaq.com has given the vendor an opportunity to utilize the marketing of last summer's release of the Nasdaq SuperMontage Trading Desk.

"The timing was right for this service," says Money.net's Chief Executive Officer, H.L. Van Arnem. "With a lot more robust and readily available market data for the institutional and retail investor, we realized that we could jump on this thing and offer a product that lets the user see the whole spectrum with a lot more depth and information."

The service is the next level of Money.net's previous offerings, LiveQuotes and Nasdaq Level II, which offered streaming data, news and charts, and the top Nasdaq price points, respectively. Van Arnem hopes to eventually combine all three products to produce a suite of services.

Van Arnem says that a monthly subscription price of $35 has helped garner 1000 users within a week of its release. "The active trader is able to make money on the sell side and save money on the buy side, so one trade practically pays for a month of service," he says. - JP

S&P Offers Indices Module
Standard & Poor's has combined its advising and indexing efforts to release an indices module that provides comprehensive information on S&P-listed companies to investment advisers and brokers.

The Web-based product offers: indices descriptions, constituent securities, company profiles, market and earnings data at a composite level, comparisons between actively managed funds and the indices' funds, and daily updates on any publicly announced index changes.

Dennis Raftis, director at S&P, says there is educational value in the tool, which allows an adviser to use the index for research and gain a greater perspective on investments.

He adds that the current economic climate encourages investment strategies which tend to be more benchmarked, so the product could not have come along at a better time. "Going back to the late 1990s, disciplined investing wasn't important and instead of indices, people were throwing darts at the wall and hitting with a winner," Raftis explains. "Now advisers need a sound investing approach."

While there may be other products on the market that function as an indices module, Raftis says that S&P's product is geared towards the investment adviser, a user who has not yet been serviced this way.

The module is a free enhancement for S&P's 80,000+ customers of S&P's Advisor Insight product suite, which already includes market intelligence, planning and portfolio tools. - JP

Citrix Secures Enterprise Access
Citrix Systems has unveiled its answer to the challenges facing enterprise-access infrastructure in today's market. MetaFrame Secure Access Manager will integrate with Citrix's enterprise-access solution, Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite, to add secure single-point enterprise connectivity for users.

Citrix Chief Executive Officer Mark Templeton says that today's users are looking for instant accessibility to secure data from anywhere at anytime, and in a format that they can understand.

"This product architecture is going to allow customers to centralize more application infrastructure than ever, so they can simplify user access," he says. "We'll be able to shield users from the complexity and the heterogeneity that is in the data center."

The software's key features include secure Internet access from any location - from an office desktop to a hotel room - complete with information integration from multiple sources. It also has multi-language capabilities.

According to Citrix, the added security is a function of encrypted-secure access over the Internet using HTTP/HTTPS, without the added cost of a virtual-private network.

In addition, Citrix has enhanced its suite with offerings such as "session shadowing" which allows real-time information sharing for conferencing, as well as a MetaFrame Password Manager to allow access to information in various areas of the enterprise with one password.

The Secure Access Manager, promotionally priced at $109 per concurrent user, will be available in the second quarter and includes priority access to upgrades and enhancements. - JP
