David Harris Is Named President of the CBOE Stock Exchange
The CBOE Stock Exchange (CBSX) -- a soon-to-be-launched electronic, Reg NMS-compliant stock exchange from the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) -- has named David Harris as its president. Harris began consulting with the CBOE in August 2006 as executive director to help the organization build its stock exchange. Impressed with the architects behind CBSX, says Harris, he decided to come into the fold as a full-time leader.
Based in New York, Harris says his No. 1 job is "to launch ourselves and deliver a reliable market, both in terms of market quality and technology." He adds that he likes his chances of success, based on his "experience in starting with no liquidity and no business, launching a market and trying to build a business around it."
Prior to working with CBSX, Harris was senior vice president of business planning and strategy for the American Stock Exchange. He also cofounded and acted as EVP and general counsel for the former Nasdaq Liffe Markets. Additionally, Harris has held positions with the NASD, Nasdaq and SEC. --Cory Levine
