Eagle Enhances Its Investment Management Solution

Eagle 9.0 features more business-friendly usability and workflow, enhanced investment accounting tools, improved performance measurement solutions, and added functionality.

Eagle Investment Systems (booth #2111) has released version 9.0 of its Eagle investment management solution. The product suite is available as an installed application or can be hosted via Eagle ACCESS, Eagle's application service provider (ASP).

Version 9.0 includes usability and workflow enhancements, as well as increased functionality, relates John Lehner, the vendor's president. "As clients use applications, the need to have an organization and management tool to help with the workflow is something that is a requirement," he says. "One thing we wanted to do with [version] 9.0 is to make the workflow more business-friendly."

Data management highlights, Lehner adds, include a redesigned rules editor for more-intuitive interaction. Other innovations include the ability to handle multi-leg swaps for derivatives, a pricing option for direct access to pricing information and the ability to modify the system so users can access audit information.

Investment accounting enhancements include added functionality around the processing and settlement of derivatives, Lehner continues. "As we continue to add complex multi-legged securities, we want to make sure we add business capabilities to manage these, as well as manage data and pricing information that comes through," he says.

Other improvements include the ability to conduct more in-depth analysis of data through reports that can be delivered to a client's specific audiences.

As a result of client feedback, Eagle's performance measurement solution suite — which consists of portfolio performance, GIPS composite management, performance attribution and mutual fund performance tools — also has been enhanced, Lehner notes. A performance analysis capability that enables clients to regroup and filter security-level performance on the fly was introduced to support ad hoc analysis and accommodate more robust look-through analysis.

Eagle 9.0 also offers several new packaged options for viewing and receiving information. The solution has been enhanced to allow more points of flexibility that enable clients to generate multiple perspectives of data through the Eagle Data Mart, a tool set that allows the business to define its universe of reportable data and, in turn, provide access to the enriched data to any downstream system or application, according to Lehner.

In a separate announcement, Eagle said that Ark Asset Management Co., an investment management firm in the institutional marketplace, will transition its installation of the Eagle investment management suite, which currently is managed in-house, to the Eagle ACCESS ASP offering, which currently is supported by Sun Microsystems' Solaris 10 operating system.
